Answers to common questions are below. If yours isn’t, email k.fitzgerald310@gmail.com with your device model and iOS or iPadOS version.

Getting started

How do I write my first estimate?

Tap + (New Job), add the customer and the job’s address, and tap Done. Tap Line for each thing you’ll fix: what the work is, the quantity, the unit and your price. When you’re done, tap Preview and Share Estimate to see the PDF and send it.

How do I put my business on the PDF?

Tap the gear (Settings) and fill in Your business: the name, your name, phone, email, address, website and license number. They go at the top of every estimate. Your logo goes on the PDF with Pro.

Can I call it a quote, proposal or bid?

Yes. In Settings, under New estimates, pick Estimate, Quote, Proposal or Bid in Call it. The numbering (like Q-1042) is in Numbers; put {YYYY} in a prefix to start again at 1 each year.

Where do the lines in From List come from?

Your own past lines come first, with the price you used last, then common painting, handyman and small remodel lines. The built-in lines have names and units but no prices: the prices are always yours.

How do tax, discounts and deposits work?

Each line has a tax switch, so you can leave labor untaxed where your area doesn’t tax it. A discount (a percent or an amount) comes off before tax, and a deposit (a percent or an amount) is shown under the total. Set the usual tax rate and deposit in Settings under New estimates.

Photos and markup

How do I mark up a photo?

With Pro, open a line with a photo and tap Mark Up Photo. Draw with your finger or Apple Pencil using Apple’s pens and markers, or tap Arrow or Circle to add one (move it with the lasso). Done keeps the markup; Cancel leaves the photo as it was.

How do before-and-after pages work?

With Pro, tap Add Before and After on a job and add two photos with a caption. Each pair gets its own page in the PDF, side by side: a past job to show what you’ll do, or this one when it’s done.

Why aren’t my photos on the PDF?

Photos, markup, before-and-after pages and your logo go on the PDF with Pro. Without Pro they stay saved with the job, and they come back on the PDF when you unlock Pro.

Signing

How does my customer sign?

With Pro, tap Customer Signs to Approve on the job and hand over your iPhone or iPad. Your customer sees every line, the total, your notes and terms, and the PDF a tap away, then types their name, signs with a finger or Apple Pencil and taps Approve and Sign. The signed PDF is kept with the job. Without Pro, the PDF has a line to sign on paper.

Why can’t I change the lines after it’s signed?

The lines and prices are locked so the job matches what your customer approved. To change them, tap Remove Signature to Edit, then ask your customer to sign the new version.

Can I make an invoice when the work’s done?

Yes, with Pro: at the bottom of the job, tap Turn into an Invoice. It has the same lines and totals, with an invoice number and a due date, and you can mark it paid.

Your jobs and backups

Does it work without a signal?

Yes. Everything is on your device, so you can write the estimate, add photos and have it signed in a basement or crawl space. AirDrop works without a connection; Mail and Messages need one to send the PDF.

Does it sync between my iPhone and iPad?

Not in this version: there’s no account and no iCloud sync. To move your jobs to another device, save a backup and restore it there.

How do I back up my jobs?

In Settings, under Backup, tap Save a Backup: one file with every job, photo and signature, saved where you choose in Files (iCloud Drive, or a drive you plug in). To bring it back, tap Restore from a Backup. A restore replaces the jobs on the device; the whole file is checked first, and if anything goes wrong, nothing is changed.

Walkthrough Quote Pro

What does Pro add?

Photos and markup on the PDF, before-and-after pages, the on-screen signature, your logo and turning an approved estimate into an invoice. Unlimited text-only estimates stay free. Pro is a one-time purchase with Family Sharing, and there’s no subscription.

Purchases

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles App Store refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Do I have to pay again on another iPhone or iPad?

No. Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchase.
