Privacy Policy

The short version: Up & Atom does not collect your data.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.

This policy explains how Up & Atom (“the app”), a Mac menu bar app that reminds you to stand up and take short breaks, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.

Information we collect

None. Up & Atom does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.

Information stored on your Mac

To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:

Your settings: reminder interval, goals, working hours and the options you turn on
Your break history: breaks taken and skipped, standing minutes and eye breaks per day, kept for about four months
Whether reminders are paused, and until when
A small summary for the Up & Atom widgets (today’s breaks, your streak and the next break time), kept in a container on your Mac that only Up & Atom and its widgets can read

It stays in Up & Atom’s own storage on your Mac and is never sent to us. Deleting the app and its container (in your user Library, under Containers) removes it.

Calendar (optional)

If you turn on Also wait during calendar events, macOS asks whether Up & Atom may access your calendars. Up & Atom only checks whether an event is happening right now, so it can hold a reminder until it ends. Event titles, attendees and other details are not stored or sent anywhere. You can turn this off in Up & Atom’s Settings, or remove access in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars.

Camera, microphone and full screen

Up & Atom never turns on or listens to your camera or microphone and never sees their audio or video. It asks macOS only whether any camera or microphone is currently in use (on or off), and whether the app in front has a window covering the whole screen (its size, not its contents or title), so a reminder can wait until your call or presentation is over.

Time away from your Mac

To count time away as a break, Up & Atom asks macOS how many seconds it has been since the keyboard or mouse was last used. It never sees what you type or click.

Notifications, widgets, Shortcuts and Focus

Reminders are local notifications created on your Mac. Widgets, Shortcuts actions and the Focus filter are run by macOS on your Mac. None of them send data anywhere.

Exports

A CSV export of your history is saved only where you choose, and Up & Atom does not keep a copy elsewhere.

Purchases

Up & Atom is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.

Children’s privacy

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
