Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Resale Ready (“the app”), a Mac app that tests a Mac you're selling and makes a condition report, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Resale Ready does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- The current test run: the results, your answers to the checks by hand, and the notes you write for the report
- If you have Pro, the reports you save to History, including ones you add from your other Macs
It stays in Resale Ready’s own storage on your Mac and is never sent to us. A PDF, printout, text or report file goes only where you save, print or paste it.
What it reads about your Mac
To fill in the report, Resale Ready reads this Mac’s model, serial number, chip, memory, macOS version and the size of its startup drive. It runs macOS’s own profiles tool to see whether the Mac is enrolled in device management, and it lists connected USB devices while the USB ports test is open. None of this leaves your Mac unless you put it in a report you share.
Camera and microphone
Resale Ready asks for the camera or microphone only when you use its test, and uses them only while that test is open: the camera shows a live picture, and the microphone drives a level meter. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent. You can turn either off at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
The keyboard and trackpad tests
While the keyboard test runs, Resale Ready notes which keys you press in its own window, so they can turn green; it doesn’t keep what you type and never sees typing in other apps. The trackpad test notes where your fingers touch inside its test area.
Network
Resale Ready doesn’t connect to the internet. Purchases are handled by the Mac App Store.
Purchases
Resale Ready is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
