Using Pairtrim
What does it find?
RAW files whose JPEG or HEIC twin is gone (usually the shots you culled as JPEGs), JPEGs whose RAW is gone (the shots you culled as RAWs), and edit-settings sidecars (XMP, PP3, DOP, ON1, ACR, COS, AAE, THM) whose photo is gone. Complete pairs are listed too, and never offered for moving.
Why is nothing ticked?
On purpose: Pairtrim can’t know which format you culled in. Tick files, folders or whole groups, or use Tick › What did you cull? By default only folders that hold both RAW and JPEG files are listed, so a RAW-only or JPEG-only folder is never offered; change this in Settings › Matching.
My JPEGs were renamed. Can it still pair them?
Edited copies (-Edit, _edit-2, “ copy”, “ (1)”) count as the JPEG, and Canon’s _MG_1234 matches IMG_1234. For files renamed some other way, Pro can pair by capture time and camera.
How do I undo a move?
Open Restore in the sidebar and restore one session or all of them, even after a relaunch. A file that’s back in its original place is never overwritten; it stays in the review folder and is marked as waiting.
I use Lightroom or Capture One.
They keep their own list of your photos, so files Pairtrim moves will show as missing there. Restore puts them back. Pairtrim refuses folders that contain a Lightroom or Capture One catalog.
Pairtrim Pro
What’s free, and what does Pro add?
The full scan and report and Restore work without a key, and you can move up to 25 files from each folder in total. Pro moves any number of files and pairs renamed files by capture time. It’s a one-time purchase on Gumroad, with no subscription.
Where do I enter my license key?
Choose Pairtrim › Settings…, open the Pro tab, paste the key from your Gumroad receipt and click Activate.
How do I get updates?
Pairtrim checks for updates on its own; you can also choose Check for Updates… from the Pairtrim menu. Updates are free.
Purchases
How do I get a refund?
Gumroad handles payment. Reply to your Gumroad receipt or email k.fitzgerald310@gmail.com.
Do I have to pay again on another Mac?
No. One license key works on up to 3 of your Macs. Download the app again from your Gumroad receipt or library and enter the same key.
