Mixbar

Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026

The short version: Mixbar does not collect your data, and it never records sound.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.

This policy explains how Mixbar (“the app”), a Mac menu bar app that gives each app its own volume, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.

Information we collect

None. Mixbar does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.

Information stored on your Mac

To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:

It stays in Mixbar’s own storage on your Mac and is never sent to us.

Sound

To change an app’s volume, Mixbar routes that app’s sound through itself using macOS’s system audio feature, and macOS asks your permission first. Sound is adjusted live, in memory, and played straight back out. Mixbar never records, saves or sends any audio.

Other apps

Mixbar shows which apps are playing sound, using their names and icons from macOS. It doesn’t look inside other apps or read their content.

Purchases

Mixbar is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.

Children’s privacy

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
