Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Input Verdict (“the app”), a Mac app that tests game controllers and other input devices and keeps a record of each unit you test, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Input Verdict does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- The test sessions you save: the unit ID or serial, stage, ticket, notes, technician name (Shop) and the test results
- Your settings: thresholds, display choices, keyboard layout and report branding (company name, contact line and logo, with Shop)
- Your license key, in your Mac’s Keychain
Sessions are files in your user Library (Application Support, under com.fitz1567.InputVerdict), your settings are in its preferences and the license key is in your Keychain. None of it is sent to us. Settings › Privacy erases the saved sessions. PDF reports, exports and listing text are written or copied only when you ask.
Devices and permissions
Input Verdict reads game controllers through macOS’s GameController framework and joysticks, game pads and similar devices through IOKit HID. It never opens keyboards or mice as devices, so it needs no Input Monitoring or other permission. The keyboard and mouse testers only see key presses and clicks sent to Input Verdict’s own window while the tester is open.
Network
Input Verdict is sold directly through Gumroad, and its only network requests are the license check with Gumroad (your license key, when you enter it and about once a week) and checks for app updates at fitztoppicks.com. Neither sends anything about your devices or test results.
Purchases
Input Verdict is sold directly through Gumroad, which handles payment and sends your receipt and license key; we never see your payment details. The app sends your license key to Gumroad to check it, and nothing else.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
