Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing about you or your work is sent to us.
This policy explains how Floorledger (“the app”), a Mac app: people, equipment, jobs and safety records for small shops, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Floorledger does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- Your shop records: the shop profile and logo, and the shared people, places, equipment and vendors
- Each module’s records: skills and certificates; injury and illness cases (including the private Form 301 details, which can be locked with a passphrase); weld procedures and welder records; calibration history and certificates; maintenance tasks and work orders; tool crib loans and badges; extinguisher inspections; refrigerant service records; lockout procedures, photos and training; quotes, customers and rates; outside processing send-outs and the cert files you attach; the chemical list and the SDS PDFs you add
- Copies of what you import from the old shop apps (Imported) and of a module’s records an import replaced (Replaced)
- Your settings: which modules are on, each module’s preferences, and the tool crib counter PIN (kept as a salted hash, not the PIN itself)
- Your license key, in your Mac’s Keychain
Records are in Floorledger’s Application Support folder (named ShopSuite; one folder per module, with daily backups where a module makes them), settings in its preferences, and the license key in your Keychain. Exports, PDFs, binders and backups are new files, written only where you choose. If you choose a shop folder (maintenance, tool crib, outside processing, a shared refrigerant records package), that module also writes its records there, so your other Macs can read them; that folder is yours, on your drive, server or cloud storage.
Your files
Floorledger runs in Apple’s App Sandbox, so it can open and save only where you choose. Your records are read and written on your Mac (and in a shop folder you choose) and never uploaded or sent to us. SDS PDFs are read on your Mac (with Apple’s text recognition for scans); nothing is sent to a server to read them.
Network
Floorledger is sold directly through Gumroad, and its only network requests are the license check with Gumroad (your license key, when you enter it and about once a week) and checks for app updates at fitztoppicks.com. Neither sends anything about your records. Find SDS opens a web search in your browser and Email Quote or Ask the Supplier opens your own mail app; Floorledger itself downloads nothing. To import, it reads (never changes) the old shop apps’ own folders, after macOS asks you.
Notifications
Reminders (certificates, calibrations, PM tasks, inspections, follow-ups, parts due back, chemical expiry) are local notifications scheduled on your Mac, only for the modules where you turn them on.
Purchases
Floorledger is sold directly through Gumroad, which handles payment and sends your receipt and license key; we never see your payment details. The app sends your license key to Gumroad to check it (when you enter it and about once a week); that is all it sends to Gumroad.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
