Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing about you or your work is sent to us.
This policy explains how Wordledger (“the app”), a Mac app: jobs, weighted quotes and invoices for freelance translators, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Wordledger does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- Your clients, rates, jobs, invoices, payments and exchange rates, in a library folder on your Mac (Application Support/Wordledger, or a folder you choose)
- A copy of each analysis report you import, each issued invoice PDF, and dated backups, in the same folder
- Your settings (document language, reminders, the folders you chose), in the app’s preferences
- Your license key, in your Mac’s Keychain
Everything is in your library folder and Wordledger’s preferences on your Mac, and the license key in your Keychain. Exports and quotes are new files, written only where you choose.
Your files
Wordledger runs in Apple’s App Sandbox, so it can open and save only where you choose. It reads the analysis reports and documents you pick or drop to count (in memory, on your Mac); it never runs or controls a CAT tool, and nothing is uploaded.
Wordtally
Wordtally’s counting is part of Wordledger. If Wordtally’s settings are on your Mac, Wordledger offers once to read its settings file (rate cards, your details, count settings) and copy them into your library; that file is only read, never changed or sent anywhere.
Network
Wordledger is sold directly through Gumroad. Its only network requests are the license check with Gumroad (your license key, when you enter it and about once a week), checks for app updates at fitztoppicks.com, and the European Central Bank’s reference rates from ecb.europa.eu when you click Fetch ECB Rates. None of them sends anything about your clients or work.
Reminders
Deadline reminders are off until you turn them on; they are local notifications made on your Mac.
Purchases
Wordledger is sold directly through Gumroad, which handles payment and sends your receipt and license key; we never see your payment details. The app sends your license key to Gumroad to check it (when you enter it and about once a week); that is all it sends to Gumroad.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
