Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing about you or your work is sent to us.
This policy explains how Textfolio (“the app”), a Mac app: export Messages conversations to clean, dated PDFs, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Textfolio does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- A temporary copy of the Messages database, in Textfolio’s own cache folder, deleted when you quit
- Your settings: your name for exports, paper size, cover page and photos on or off, and whether you’ve seen the welcome screen
- Your license key (and the trial’s start date), in your Mac’s Keychain
The copy is in ~/Library/Caches/com.fitz1567.Textfolio, settings in Textfolio’s preferences, and the license key in your Keychain. Contact names are read into memory while the app runs and never saved. Exports are new files, written only where you choose.
Your messages
Textfolio reads the Messages history on your Mac after you turn on Full Disk Access for it in System Settings. It copies the database and reads the copy read-only, so Messages is never changed. Textfolio runs outside Apple’s App Sandbox because a sandboxed app can’t read the Messages folder even with Full Disk Access. Nothing about your messages or contacts is uploaded or sent anywhere.
Network
Textfolio is sold directly through Gumroad, and its only network requests are the license check with Gumroad (your license key, when you enter it and about once a week) and checks for app updates at fitztoppicks.com. Neither sends anything about your messages.
Purchases
Textfolio is sold directly through Gumroad, which handles payment and sends your receipt and license key; we never see your payment details. The app sends your license key to Gumroad to check it (when you enter it and about once a week); that is all it sends to Gumroad.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
