Spelling Steps privacy policy
Effective October 3, 2026
Spelling Steps is an Android app by Kevin Fitzgerald for Fire tablets and Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets. It does not collect your data. There are no ads, no analytics, no accounts and no server of ours. The app has no permission to use the internet at all.
What it keeps on your device
- Each player's first name or nickname and chosen shape
- Each player's spelling progress (which words are learned or tricky, stars, badges, recent practices) and a practice in progress
- Word lists a grown-up types in
- Settings (grade, list, keyboard, practice length, text size, colors, voice)
This stays in the app's private storage on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it. If you turn on your device's own backup, Android may include it in that backup, which is covered by your device maker's privacy policy.
Permissions
None. The app asks for no Android permissions.
Links that leave the app
The About screen can open this page in your browser, the app's page in the Amazon Appstore and Galaxy Store, or your email app to write to support. Those apps handle anything you do there.
Purchases
Spelling Steps is a one-time purchase in the Amazon Appstore and Galaxy Store, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Amazon's privacy notice covers that purchase. Samsung's privacy notice covers that purchase.
Sharing and selling
Nothing is collected, so nothing is sold or shared.
Children
Spelling Steps is made for children and collects nothing from them, so it needs no parental consent.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page will show the new date.
