License reports for your dependencies

Need a hand?

Answers to common questions are below. If yours isn’t, email k.fitzgerald310@gmail.com with your Mac model and macOS version.

Using NoticeDesk

Which projects can it read?

Swift packages (Package.resolved, also inside Xcode projects and workspaces), npm (package-lock.json or npm-shrinkwrap.json) and Python (requirements files, poetry.lock and an installed virtual environment).

Why does a Swift package say “no license file”?

Its license file is read from the checked-out package. Build the project once in Xcode so the packages are checked out, or choose Add Checkouts Folder… if they’re somewhere else.

Is the report legal advice?

No. It shows what the dependency files and license texts say, with plain-language notes. Packages sometimes misstate their licenses; have anything flagged reviewed before you rely on it.

NoticeDesk Pro

What’s free, and what does Pro add?

Free: one ecosystem at a time, every dependency with its license, flags and notes on screen. Pro adds every ecosystem in one scan and the exports: the PDF report, NOTICE.txt, CSV and JSON. It’s a one-time purchase on Gumroad, with no subscription.

Where do I enter my license key?

Choose NoticeDesk › Settings…, open the License tab, paste the key from your Gumroad receipt and click Activate.

How do I get updates?

NoticeDesk checks for updates on its own; you can also choose Check for Updates… from the NoticeDesk menu. Updates are free.

Purchases

How do I get a refund?

Gumroad handles payment. Reply to your Gumroad receipt or email k.fitzgerald310@gmail.com.

Do I have to pay again on another Mac?

No. One license key works on up to 3 of your Macs. Download the app again from your Gumroad receipt or library and enter the same key.
