Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Little Desk (“the app”), a Mac app that gives young kids a full-screen space with the websites a parent approves, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Little Desk does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- Your parent PIN, kept only as a salted, one-way hash (PBKDF2), never the PIN itself
- Each kid’s name, picture, color, timer, schedule and daily limit, and which tiles are on their desk
- The websites you approve, with their names, pictures and any sites they may also open
- How many minutes each kid has used today, for daily limits
- Each kid’s website data, such as cookies, kept separately for each kid by macOS’s web engine
- Whether Touch ID is turned on, and for which Mac account
It stays in Little Desk’s own storage on your Mac and is never sent to us. Drawings on the drawing pad aren’t saved. “Forgot your PIN?” erases Little Desk’s settings.
Websites
The websites you approve load directly from those sites, just as they would in a browser, and they may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. Little Desk adds no tracking, ads or analytics of its own. Pages, links and new windows are limited to the sites you approve; videos and games embedded from other sites play unless you turn that off in PIN and Safety. Links that would open another app, downloads and file pickers never work.
Touch ID
If you turn Touch ID on for your own Mac account, macOS checks your fingerprint and tells Little Desk only whether it matched. Little Desk never sees your fingerprint.
The lock
While a session runs, Little Desk asks macOS to hide the Dock and menu bar and turn off app switching, Force Quit and similar shortcuts. It doesn’t open, watch or record other apps or what your child types, and it uses no Accessibility or Screen Time access.
Network
Little Desk connects to the internet only to load the websites you approve. Purchases are handled by the Mac App Store.
Purchases
Little Desk is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
