KeySieve

Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026

The short version: KeySieve does not collect your data.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.

This policy explains how KeySieve (“the app”), a Mac app that finds API keys, tokens and passwords in your projects and their git history, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.

Information we collect

None. KeySieve does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.

Information stored on your Mac

To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:

The folder list is a file in your user Library (Application Support, under com.fitz1567.keysieve), settings are in its preferences and the license key is in your Keychain. Findings are kept in memory only, never written to disk or logged, and values are always masked (first 4 characters only). Reports are written only where you save them.

Your repositories

KeySieve reads the files and git history of the folders you add, running git read-only. It writes to a project only when you ask: a line in .gitleaksignore, or the pre-commit hook, each shown before it’s written. It never runs the clean-up commands it suggests.

Network

KeySieve is sold directly through Gumroad, and its only network requests are the license check with Gumroad (your license key, when you enter it and about once a week) and checks for app updates at fitztoppicks.com. No key it finds is ever sent or tested online.

Purchases

KeySieve is sold directly through Gumroad, which handles payment and sends your receipt and license key; we never see your payment details. The app sends your license key to Gumroad to check it, and nothing else.

Children’s privacy

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
