Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Drive Verdict (“the app”), a Mac app that checks whether a USB drive or memory card is genuine, how fast it is, and whether its connection is slowing it down, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Drive Verdict does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- The history of drives you have checked: each check’s results, and the drive details macOS reports (name, size, file system, maker, model and serial number)
- Which drives you have allowed Drive Verdict to use, so it asks only once per drive
It stays in Drive Verdict’s own storage on your Mac and is never sent to us. Reports are saved as PDF or copied as text only when you choose to.
Your drives
Drive Verdict can write to a drive only after you select that drive in the macOS Open panel. It writes only its own test files, inside a folder named “Drive Verdict test files (safe to delete)”, and deletes them when the check ends. It never formats or erases a drive and never opens your other files. It cannot test your Mac’s startup disk or internal disks.
Drive details
To explain results, Drive Verdict reads details macOS already has about a drive, such as its name, capacity, maker, model, serial number and USB connection speed. They appear in your reports and history on your Mac only, and in a PDF or text report only if you save or copy one.
Purchases
Drive Verdict is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
