Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Disk Attic (“the app”), a Mac app for opening classic Mac disk images and converting the files inside, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Disk Attic does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac only:
- Nothing about you or the images you open: Disk Attic keeps no history of them
- Only what macOS keeps for every app, such as the window’s size and position
Disk images are read where they are and never changed. Files you extract or convert are written only to the folder you choose, and nothing is ever sent to us.
Files you open
Disk Attic can open only the images and files you choose or drop on it, and write only to the folders you choose for extracting or converting. Everything is read and converted on your Mac.
Quick Look
Disk Attic’s Quick Look extension previews classic MacPaint, PICT, MacWrite, ClarisWorks and Word for Mac files in Finder. It reads only the file Finder asks it to preview, can’t change it, and keeps nothing.
Open-source software
Disk Attic converts classic documents with libmwaw 0.3.22 and librevenge 0.0.5, by the libmwaw and LibreOffice contributors, used unmodified under the Mozilla Public License 2.0; their source code is at those links. They’re built with header-only parts of the Boost C++ Libraries (Boost Software License 1.0). Disk Attic’s disk image, volume, picture and fork readers are its own. The full notices are in Disk Attic › Acknowledgements.
Network
Disk Attic doesn’t connect to the internet. Purchases are handled by the Mac App Store.
Purchases
Disk Attic is sold through Apple’s Mac App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
