Commit Builder for Git

Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026

The short version: Commit Builder for Git does not collect your data.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.

This policy explains how Commit Builder for Git (“the app”), a browser extension for writing commit messages, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.

Information we collect

None. Commit Builder for Git does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.

Information stored on your browser

To work, the app keeps the following on your browser only:

It stays in your browser’s storage for the extension and is never sent anywhere. It is removed when you remove the extension, or sooner with Settings > Forget recent scopes and drafts.

What it reads

Only the page you open it on, and only when you open it there: a pull request’s title, number, branch and labels, to suggest a message. When you click Fill on Page, it puts the message in that page’s commit message box. It can’t see your other tabs or your browsing.

What it sends

Nothing. It makes no network requests at all.

Children’s privacy

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
