Privacy Policy
No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and nothing is sent to us.
This policy explains how Cardlark (“the app”), an app for iPhone and iPad that estimates which of your credit cards earns the most at a store, and keeps the card offers and statement credits you track, developed by Kevin Fitzgerald, handles information.
Information we collect
None. Cardlark does not collect, store, sell or share personal information on any server, and it does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking tools of any kind.
Information stored on your iPhone or iPad
To work, the app keeps the following on your iPhone or iPad only:
- The names of the cards you carry (never a card number, balance, bank login or password), your card-member anniversary months, and any rates, fees or point values you changed
- Your saved offers: the store, the amount or percent back, the minimum spend, the end date, notes, and whether you used it
- Your credit log (Pro): what you used of each statement credit, and the credits you turned off
- Your bonus-category picks with their end dates, custom cards (Pro), how stores code for you, and your settings, such as reminders and the starting purchase amount
It stays in one file in Cardlark’s own storage on your device and is never sent to us. Cardlark has no server and doesn’t sync it anywhere; your device’s own backups may include it, as they do for other apps. Settings › Erase all data, or deleting the app, removes it.
No bank connections and no network calls
Cardlark doesn’t connect to banks or card networks, and it can’t add, read or enroll your bank’s offers. It makes no network connections of its own: the only one is Apple’s App Store, for the Pro purchase. The card rules (rates, caps, fees and credits) are bundled with the app, written by a person from each issuer’s public card page, and arrive with app updates.
Pasted offer text
If you paste an offer’s wording into the offer editor, Cardlark reads it on your device to fill in the amount, minimum and end date. The text isn’t sent anywhere, and only the fields you save are kept.
Reminders, links and email
Reminders for offers about to end, unused credits and new bonus quarters are local notifications planned on your device. Verify on issuer site opens the issuer’s public page in your browser. Report an outdated rate opens a prefilled email in your mail app with the card’s name and the card-data version; nothing is sent unless you send it.
Backups
With Pro, Back up to a file saves everything in the app to a file only where you choose. It holds your cards, offers and credit log, so keep it somewhere private.
Estimates, not advice
Cardlark is an estimator, not financial advice. Rates are estimates from issuers’ public card terms; issuers change them and stores don’t always code the way you’d expect, so check your card’s terms. Cardlark is not affiliated with any bank or card network. Card names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify your own card.
Purchases
Cardlark is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details.
Children’s privacy
Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated before that happens.
