What’s the difference between Easy, Medium and Hard?

Easy puzzles need only one step: find a square where just one number fits. Medium puzzles also need you to find the only square in a row, column or box that can take a number. Hard puzzles need pencil marks and pairs. No puzzle ever needs guessing, and every puzzle has exactly one solution.

How do pencil marks work?

Tap Notes, then tap numbers to jot small possibilities in a square. Tap Notes again to go back to writing answers. When you write an answer, that number is cleared from the notes in its row, column and box.

How do I check my work?

Tap Check and any wrong numbers turn red. If you’d rather see mistakes right away, turn on Show mistakes right away in Settings. A number that repeats in its row, column or box always shows in red.

Can the numbers be bigger?

Yes. Turn on Extra large numbers in Settings. On iPad, turn it sideways to see the board and keypad side by side. On a Mac, make the window bigger.

Can I use my keyboard?

Yes, on a Mac or an iPad with a keyboard: type 1–9 to write a number, use the arrow keys to move, Delete to erase, N to switch pencil marks on or off, and ⌘Z to undo.

Is there a timer?

No. Take as long as you like. Your game is saved as you play.

Does everyone get the same Today’s Puzzle?
